Adele is shining bright like a diamond.
Her sophomore album 21 has been undeniably success since its release two years ago, but let’s prove that point even more. It has sold 10 million copies since its release, making it a certified “diamond” album, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Also, it’s the 21st album to be a diamond record since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. How convenient!
Adele has released hit single after hit single from 21, including the radio favorite Rolling in the Deep and Set Fire to the Rain. After welcoming her son last month, we can’t really expect any new music anytime soon from the star. Besides the theme song from the James Bond flick Skyfall, of course!
I’m going to leave you with one little fact to prove how much of a badass Adele is. No album has sold 10 million copies more quickly since the good ‘ole boy bands days. *NSYNC’s No Strings Attached back in 2000 reached diamond status in 43 weeks and Backstreet Boys Millennium in 1999 took 39 weeks.
What do you think about Adele’s recent accomplishment? Are you obsessed with 21 just like everyone else?
