Most of our parents said no to piercings and crazy haircuts at some point growing up, but Jada Pinkett Smith is not one of those parents.

Her daughter Willow Smith has been rocking everything from a mohawk to a buzz cut in recent years, leaving many to question who would let their pre-teen daughter dress like that. Jada addressed the critics in a Facebook post, saying she's simply giving Willow the opportunity to take charge of her own life. "The question why I would LET Willow cut her hair. First the LET must be challenged," she wrote. "This is a world where women, girls are constantly reminded that they don't belong to themselves; that their bodies are not their own, nor their power or self determination. I made a promise to endow my little girl with the power to always know that her body, spirit and her mind are HER domain."

In an interview with Parade Magazine last May, Jada also explained that she lets Willow cut her own hair. "When you have a little girl, it's like how can you teach her that you're in control of her body?" she said. "She has got to have command of her body. So when she goes out into the world, she's going out with a command that is hers."

So far, it seems like Willow has got the command part under control with the way she rocks the red carpet!
