The inevitable has occurred ― Tarzan is heading back to the big screen.
How’d we know this would happen? Well, he’s a familiar character who has vine-swinging adventures in an exotic location, and he doesn’t wear much clothing. So there’s a little something for everyone.
The Tarzan reboot will be directed by David Yates, who brought us the last four Harry Potter films.
A new Tarzan has been in the works for years. It’s one of the most popular film franchises in history, with 89 titles in the series, from the original silent Tarzan of the Apes in 1918 to the Disney animated version in 1999 to a failed WB TV show from 2003 that took place in modern-day New York City.
Most recently, there is a 3D German version featuring a motion-captured Kellan Lutz to be released next year.
But that hasn’t stopped Warner Bros. moving forward with its own version. As reported by Vulture, they’re currently talking to True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard, Man of Steel Henry Cavill, and Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam about the role, and they’re also excited about the idea of The Dark Knight Rises villain Tom Hardy.
Other suggestions? Hey, anyone in the cast of Magic Mike would do! We'd also totally buy it if they cast Ryan Lochte as a guy who'd been raised by apes.
