Awards season is getting ready to kick off this Sunday for the 2012 American Music Awards. The lineup for presenters and performers is definitely pretty epic but the artists who are nominated in the categories definitely have some competition. Take "Artist of the Year" for example. With Justin Bieber, Drake, Maroon 5, Katy Perry and her BFF Rihanna all nominated, it’s going to be a tough decision!
Let’s break down the facts for each artist, shall we? Obviously Justin had a knockout year with the release of Believe, one of the biggest albums of the year. But Katy Perry also dropped The Complete Confection release that including one of her biggest career hits, Part of Me. And let’s not forget her inspirational Part of Me 3D flick.
Drake released his sophomore album Take Care that was filled with amazing lyrics and crazy collabs. Maroon 5, on the other hand dominated the radio and with front man Adam Levine being a judge on The Voice, they’ve definitely made a name for themselves this year.
And then there’s Rihanna who basically had a new single every month, it seems like. Seriously, this girl never sleeps. Plus her single We Found Love was not only one of her biggest singles yet, but it basically describes 2012 in a nutshell.
We’ll have to wait to see who walks home with the award when the show airs Sunday, November 18th at 8PM! And for all things AMAs and ideas to plan your viewing party, head over to cokemusic.com, where you can also catch the AMA’s Coca-Cola LIVE! Red Carpet Digital Preshow at 5 PM EST/2 PM PST!
