2012 seems to have been the year of YouTube and YouTube stars being born. Long gone are the days of sending your demo to a record exec. Now you just have to upload a video on YouTube! Two major stars of 2012 learned exactly that this year and took America by storm. So who are they?

Carly Rae Jepsen and Psy were the biggest breakout stars of 2012. But only one can be declared the 2012 YouTube Champion!

Carly seemed to have appeared on the scene overnight with Call Me Maybe when Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez made a lip-synching video that went viral. With over 350 million hits, constant radio play and two Grammy nomination, Carly definitely had an unforgettable year.

Next up, Gangnam Style! Psy developed THE dance move of the year that took the world by storm. With 900 million views (!!!) on YouTube, he dethroned Justin Bieber as having the most hits of all time!
