It's still unclear whether Britney Spears will be returning for another season of judging duties on The X Factor, but there's one person who definitely won't be coming back.

Record executive L.A. Reid made the official announcement that he won't be on the show once Season 2 comes to a close next week. Did Simon Cowell have anything to do with this decision?

"I have a company to run that I've kind of neglected and it saddens me a little bit, but only a little bit," L.A. said to Access Hollywood. "It was a nice break, it was a nice departure from what I've done for the past 20 years, but now I gotta go back to work."

And while L.A. has bickered frequently with Simon Cowell over the course of this season (then again, who doesn't Simon bicker with?), he insists the salty Brit played no role in his decision to leave the show. "I love Simon," he said. "We have a great relationship, we have fun together, we talk, we laugh, we do bad things, we're friends. I owe so much to Simon. I really have a lot [of] respect for him and I always will. I support him, I support the show and I'll always be in business with him."

Next week's finals will see country singer Tate Stevens, soloist Carly Rose Sonenclar and girl band Fifth Harmony do battle for the $5 million winner's check.

What do you think of L.A. not being at the judges' table next season?
