LeAnn Rimes wants you to know that she was NOT drunk during her performance on X Factor earlier this week.
Her woozy, wobbly, off-key duet of "How Do I Live" with finalist Carly Rose Sonenclar attracted plenty of attention, but LeAnn insisted that it had nothing to do with the ah-ah-ah-ah-ah alcohol. She said that if any of the performance was awkward, it was because, "I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song," according to TMZ. Throwing a teenager under the bus? Classy.
After realizing she looked like a truly horrible person for placing blame on a 13-year-old, LeAnn claimed she never gave a quote discussing the incident. "In my 18 years of performing, I have never been anything but professional onstage. It is a shame that gossip and lies are overshadowing the performance of Carly, a very talented young girl," wrote LeAnn on Twitter. "And while I have not given any media outlet a quote, if you want one, here it is: 'It was an amazing opportunity to share this experience with Carly and I know I’ll be watching for her to win tonight.'"
However, TMZ said LeAnn's rep provided the quote and gave the site permission to use it.
Carly's family was outraged at the "helping" comments, claiming that their daughter out-performed LeAnn at their own song. Hate to say it, but they're actually right about that...
Do you think LeAnn actually said that?
