Is this a sign of what to expect at this year's Academy Awards?

Awards season raged on with the nominations for the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will air on TNT and TBS on January 27. What's notable about this particular set of awards is that it's actors rewarding actors, so some of the biggest names in the business tend to get their fair share of love. This year, Lincoln and Silver Linings Playbook led the way with four nominations each and will also do battle in the oustanding performance by a cast in a motion picture category.

Rounding out the Lincoln nods, Daniel Day-Lewis is up for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role, Tommy Lee Jones is up for outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting role and Sally Field is up for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role.

For Silver Linings Playbook, Bradley Cooper will square off against Daniel in the outstanding leading male actor category, while Robert De Niro does battle with Tommy in the oustanding supporting male actor category. Jennifer Lawrence was also nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role.

A few notable omissions: Anthony Hopkins didn't get a nomination for playing the Master of Suspense the not-terribly-well-received Hitchcock, and Joaquin Phoenix wasn't rewarded for The Master (possibly because of his unflattering opinion of awards season). In the supporting category, Matthew McConaughey didn't pick up any added Oscar heat from his peers for Magic Mike.

Instead, there was a somewhat-surprising nod to the James Bond flick Skyfall for Javier Bardem (who won this award playing a different dastardly villain in No Country For Old Men). It could be the first time a Bond villain makes the cut at the Oscars. Another mild surprise: Nicole Kidman being rewarded for her trashy turn in The Paperboy, which came and went in theaters and was slammed by critics.
