Can you picture Sir Paul McCartney crooning “Rape Me”?
Us either. But the former Beatles member briefly took over for the late Kurt Cobain as Nirvana’s frontman, joining forces from arguably the two most worshipped bands in the history of music. And all for a good cause!
Plenty of legends took the stage last night at the 12-12-12 Concert For Sandy Relief, including Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, and Kanye West. Catch more performances and see what Courtney Love had to say about a Beatle subbing for her hubby below.
According to TMZ, Courtney Love is “not amused” by Sir Paul’s appearance, adding: “If John [Lennon] were alive it would be cool."
But it’s not like Sir Paul McCartney was busy desecrating “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Heart-Shaped Box.” Instead he joined Nirvana’s Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic for a new track called “Cut Me Some Slack.” It definitely had some of that grungy 90s edge we’re used to.
The show went down at Madison Square Garden. Proceeds went to victims of Sandy. You can donate here.
