It's official: Britney Spears will be releasing her eighth studio album!

After weeks of rumors about Britney hitting the studio, she confirmed in a Twitter Q&A with fans that she is currently at work on a new album. "Working hard. Collaborating with some inspiring new producers," she said.

But while her most recent album, 2011's Femme Fatale, was well-produced but fairly superficial pop music, Britney is reportedly digging deeper with her songs this time around. "I would say it's definitely the 'unexpected' Britney in so many ways, in that she's playing with new textures and stomping on new grounds and genres," said songwriter Elijah Blake, who spoke to That Grape Juice about working with the pop star. "From talking to her, she's definitely trying to push the envelope this time — and really talk from a more personal point of view."

However, all this talk about making music is only adding fuel to the rumors that she won't have time to judge music on the next season of The X Factor. While Britney hasn't confirmed or denied another season, she made it clear in the chat that she's "really focused on my music right now."
