Long gone are the days of struggling musicians knocking on doors of one record label to the next, trying to get that one big break. YouTube has become the place to get recognized for putting your own unique twist on a hit song and gaining thousands (or millions!) of fans.

In Cover This, we’re highlighting our favorite YouTube music covers of the week that have gained viral video status or that are just simply amazing.

“Kiss You” – Megan & Liz

We’re obviously major fans of Megan & Liz around here at Hollywire and the twins covered another favorite of ours: One Direction. Does it really get much better than that?

“Scream & Shout” -- Bryce Vine ft. Joe Kirkland

The Glee Project’s Bryce Vine teams up with Artist Vs. Poet frontman Joe Kirkland for this acoustic performance of will.i.am and Britney Spears’ “Scream and Shout.” Think there’s a way to ditch the heavy-played original for one with two cute, talented guys in it? Hey, can't blame a girl for trying!

“I Dreamed a Dream” -- Christina Grimmie

YouTube star Christina Grimmie is back with another flawless cover, this time taking on Les Miserables “I Dreamed a Dream.” To say she gives Anne Hathaway a run for her money would be an understatement.

“Daylight” – Tyler Ward, Lindsey Stirling, Chester See

Tyler Ward, Lindsey Stirling and Chester See – a.k.a. a dynamic YouTube trio – get points for not only making a damn good Maroon 5 cover, but also for making it look like they had a blast doing it. BFF status right here!

“I Knew You Were Trouble” – Tom Odell

If Taylor Swift tweets out a cover you did of her own song, you know you nailed it. That’s exactly what happened to Tom Odell when he stopped by BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge earlier this week.
