It used to be that movies were based on books, and sometimes even original ideas. Now it’s more like comic books, long-forgotten TV shows, and the occasional board game. (We’re looking at you, Battleship.)
Now we have word that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is starring in a new movie based on one drawing. Other things we suspect Hollywood may soon be basing movies on? Bendy straws, the Dewey Decimal System, and those extra buttons you get when you buy a new sweater but never use even if you do lose a button because you never learned to sew.

Okay, so all kidding aside, this is a pretty awesome drawing, and definitely lends itself to a story we wouldn’t mind seeing on the big screen. (Whether or not we really want to see it as a Dwayne Johnson vehicle is another story.)
The movie is imaginatively titled Teddy Bear (for now), and one version of the drawing “Sweet Halloween Dreams” by Alex Panagopoulos comes complete with the caption: “Teddy Bears: Protecting innocent children from monsters under the bed since 1902." So we have our premise right there.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Dwayne is currently producing the movie, and let’s face it, he’ll probably star. (Though doesn’t this seem like it should be an animated movie?) Following the mega-success of Ted, teddy bears are suddenly all the fuzzy rage again ― though we don’t expect to see this one smoking from a bong or anything.
The original post of the drawing online has the artist call it “another fast and stupid one.” We rather disagree, but “fast and stupid” sure explains what got Hollywood interested. (We’re still looking at you, Battleship!)
Do you think this drawing is enough to base a whole movie on?
