After months of rumors and sources, Mariah Carey has finally spoken out about her feud with Nicki Minaj

The singer sat down with Barbara Walters to promote next week's Season 12 premiere of American Idol. Mariah claims that amends have been made, but called the rapper's challenge to fight her last October "unprofessional" and something she had never experienced before in her career.

One rumor that Mariah did confirm is that she hired extra security in the aftermath of the confrontation. Mariah claims her fellow judge said: "If I had a gun, I would shoot that b*tch" after the confrontation, something that Nicki has vehemently denied. "I just felt it was the appropriate thing to do," said Mariah. "Sitting there on the road with two babies, I'm not going to take any chances."

And while it's highly unlikely we'll see Mariah back for another season unless Nicki leaves, she's been trying to keep a positive spin on the controversy. "For all the drama, I hope it helps the show," she said. "I think it's a classic, classy show and it didn't need this."
