Anne Hathaway apologized for her pale pink Prada Oscar dress choice last Sunday... but sadly, she’s not apologizing for the right reason.
Turns out, Anne was intending on wearing Valentino to her award-winning night, but got wind the night before that someone would be wearing a dress very similar to hers. That someone was her Les Miserables co-star Amanda Seyfried, who showed up in a beautiful halter-neck Alexander McQueen.

Instead of just letting it go, Anne issued an apology regarding her dress -– to Valentino! “It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans.”
Changing her plans meant changing into the pink Prada number that left a bad taste in just about everyone’s mouth. “Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself,” she said. “I deeply regret any disappointment caused."
So what was it about Anne’s Oscar gown that made people wince? Besides the fact that she looked like a teenager going to her winter formal, the way the dress was sown made it appear that it was, you know... a bit chilly outside. Yes, Anne’s nipples went viral on Oscar night, and somehow even made time ti create their own Twitter handle: @HathawayNipples.
As sweet as it is of Anne to apologize, the backlash she received from dress number two makes it sound like she’s saying sorry for wearing the dress in the first place. Most people just roll with the punches of landing on the Worst Dressed list and move on. Guess Anne wasn’t as excited as her nipples appeared to be that night, thanks to Prada.
What do you think about Anne’s apology? Is it sweet of her or too sweet?
