Identity theft can happen to anyone, as Jason Bateman discovers in the new comedy Identity Thief (out today!). And you don’t have to be an obscure nobody (like the character Melissa McCarthy plays in the film) to rip off someone else’s persona. Plenty of celebrities can be accused of identity theft, too, in the ways they’ve cribbed their looks or other features from stars who paved the way.

Here’s a round-up of some of Hollywood’s biggest identity thieves!

1. Lana Del Rey

The contemporary songbird definitely yanked most of her look and some of her sound from Nancy Sinatra, to the extent that we’re still not entirely convinced that she didn’t actually time-travel here from the 60’s.

2. Miley Cyrus

Miley shocked the world by chopping off most of her hair (in a fun way, not a Britney Spears meltdown way) and dying it platinum blonde. The cut has drawn comparisons to Robyn and Pink, but it’s actually done wonders in making Miley seem less like a Disney star past her prime and more like a legitimate and somewhat edgy musician.

3. Isla Fisher

It’s not really Isla’s fault that she’s a redhead, and therefore constantly gets confused with Amy Adams (especially for Amy's bubblier roles, like in Enchanted and The Muppets). So far the major difference between them seems to be that Amy has four Oscar nominations on her resume and Isla has none, so Isla should definitely work this identity theft scenario to her advantage.

4. Rita Ora

Rita’s fashion sense and musical stylings might be more daring if Rihanna didn’t always seem to get there first, though Rita claims she’s yanked her style from another big star: Gwen Stefani. And come to think of it, yeah ― she’s kind of cribbed her style, too.

5. Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay only occasionally borrows Marilyn Monroe’s look, and likely won’t be remembered in such a kind light as the legendary screen icon. But Lilo is basically stealing the starlet's doomed-by-fame persona, with constant press coverage and lots of rumored substance abuse. We can only hope Lindsay fares better than Marilyn did in the end.

6. AnnaSophia Robb

AnnaSophia has a perfectly legit excuse to be stealing Sarah Jessica Parker’s look ― she’s playing her younger counterpart on The Carrie Diaries. But that doesn’t mean we don’t sometimes do double-takes at the younger Bradshaw’s ensembles, because she’s basically a dead ringer for the Sex & The City star in her heyday.

7. Justin Timberlake

This is a still-developing identity theft, so please stand by. JT's new “Suit And Tie” obsession means he’s definitely classing up his image (not that it was so scruffy to begin with), and his new music also seems like a throwback to various bygone eras. Like Frank Sinatra, Justin is a double-threat as both a musician and actor, and we bet we'll be seeing him in a suit and tie (just like Frank) for the foreseeable future.

8. Lady Gaga

Gaga has attempted to out-sex and out-crazy Madonna on numerous occasions, and in some ways has succeeded. (Meat dress. Egg.) Her place in pop history is definitely a shadow of Madge’s, who did virtually everything Gaga did a couple decades earlier. Who’s the Queen of Pop now, though, is up to you.

9. Nicki Minaj

It’s hard to imagine anyone dressing more outrageous than Gaga, but Nicki’s many fashion eyesores are proof that it can be done. She seems to have taken a cue from Katy Perry’s colorful wardrobe and another from Gaga’s closet, with a little influence on the rap end from her nemesis Lil Kim. And maybe a little Carrie Bradshaw? Some Disney princess? And Lisa Frank? Just like the way she can't seem to decide if she's a rapper or dance music star musically, her fashion choices are also a big mess of stolen influences. The result is in an unholy alliance that blends every color of the rainbow with our worst fashion nightmares.
