And the feud between One Direction and Jake Bugg continues on! It all began last week when the indie singer told a magazine that 1D was “terrible” and expressed his disgust at people calling them the next Beatles.
Well, he didn’t stop there! While walking the carpet at the NME Awards –- where 1D took home the “Worst Band” award and Harry Styles was named “Villain of the Year” –- he continued to voice his opinion on the hugely popular boy band. When asked if he was pleased about the boys’ "Worst Band" win, he said, “I don’t know how they can really be considered a band, though, to be honest. I’m not too sure. I think the more I play on it, it’ll wind them up."
But wait, there's more!

Continuing his, um, honest feelings, he said, “They’re there to look good. Music-wise? I assume they don’t really have a clue. We’ll just see. They might do.” Moving onto the subject of Harry’s “Villain of the Year” award, he expressed, “Probably the ugliest one is the best singer. He might know a couple of chords.” Well, that’s a backhanded compliment if we ever heard one...
While we wait ever-so-patiently for the fellas of One Direction to respond to Jake’s remarks -- because, let's be honest, it's coming -- let’s look back at their tweets to his very first insult! Louis wrote, "Hi @JakeBugg do you think slagging off boy bands makes you more indie?" while Niall tweeted, "Really buggs me that artists we're fans of, flip on us in the press!"

So, who is this Jake Bugg guy, anyway? Sure sounds like the way he’s getting his name out is by insulting the biggest boy band in the world right now, right? Here’s a little background: the 19-year-old is an indie rocker from England who released his debut album last October. He’s often been referred to as a young Bob Dylan to which he responded, “Bob Dylan’s cool, you know, he’s great, but he’s not a major influence.”
This also isn’t the first time Jake’s voiced his opinion on some of the biggest names in the music business. He also criticized Grammy-winners Mumford & Sons earlier this month, saying that they looked like “posh farmers with banjos,” before adding, “But I don’t have anything against anyone’s background.” Well, everyone’s entitled to voice their opinion -– Directioners just might not be too happy about it.
What do you think about Jake’s insults to 1D? Is he doing it to get recognized?
