Don't let Adele's fun-loving personality fool you: when it comes to business, she knows exactly what she's worth.
South African business tycoon Vivian Imerman asked the singer to perform at his daughter's wedding and she agreed, but for the hefty price of $3.73 million for a 25-minute set! In other words, she'd be making a cool $149,430 per minute. Needless to say, Vivian decided to look elsewhere for a performer.
But does this price tag make Adele the priciest wedding singer on earth? Check out our roundup of 9 other celebrities who will sing on your big day for astronomical sums.
1. Rod Stewart ($900,000)
With 31 songs that cracked the top 10 and over 100 million records sold worldwide, it's no surprise that Rod charges a pretty penny. For a much cheaper price, you could instead get the German version of the singer who swallows his microphone during performances...
2. Barry Manilow ($1,140,000)
It may have been a second since Barry had a hit, but he's responsible for some of the greatest love songs of all time including "Could It Be Magic" and "Can't Smile Without You."
3. Jennifer Lopez ($1,500,000)
A J.Lo wedding performance may not be the most moving moment for your big day, but whatever is lacking in vocal range would definitely be made up for in sheer star power. Just make sure she doesn't play "My Love Don't Cost A Thing."
4. Paul McCartney ($1,500,000)
If he's good enough for the Royals, he's good enough in you. Back in 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton selected Paul as their top choice to perform at their wedding. He's even creating new romantic songs these days, with "My Valentine" being a serenade to his wife Nancy.
5. George Michael ($2,000,000)
Not many people stateside would shell out seven figures to have George perform at their wedding, but he's still music royalty in the U.K. and fields plenty of wedding offers there. For an extra fee, perhaps he'd even perform at your honeymoon and sing "I Want Your Sex."
6. Christina Aguilera ($2,250,000)
Believe it or not, Christina's current price for a full wedding concert is actually a downgrade from what she used to charge. In 2005, she earned $2 million to sing a mere three songs at a wedding in the French resort town of Antibes.
7. Kylie Minogue ($3,000,000)
Back in 2004, Kylie was paid $356,000 to sing one song at a lavish wedding in Paris, which marked her first-ever private performance. Since then, Kylie seems to have gotten a better grasp on what she's worth in Europe and now charges a seven-figure sum for a full concert.
8. Elton John ($3,000,000)
If you get Elton to sing at your wedding, you're helping out others as well. He donates all earnings from private concerts to his charity, the Elton John AIDS Foundation, rather than pocket the huge sums.
9. The Rolling Stones ($7,500,000)
Despite charging more money for weddings than anyone else on the planet, your big day will still have to work around their schedule. The Stones don't perform at private events unless they're already on the road touring.
If you had the money, would you pay $3.7 million to have Adele perform at your wedding?
