Scandal alert: Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel had an affair when they were married to other people… and now they’re engaged!

Fortunately for their romance, their sordid love affair was a fictional one on AMC's multi-Emmy-winning Mad Men. And hopefully real-life Vincent is more scrupulous than his character Pete Campbell. (But how could he not be?)

Apparently Vincent proposed a few weeks ago, but news is only just now breaking. According to a source, Alexis’ ring is “huge.” (Not Jennifer Aniston huge, though… we hope.) Both TV-familiar actors (he from Angel, she from Gilmore Girls) are in their early thirties and neither has been married before… apparently they were just waiting for the right one to come along!

On Mad Men, Pete pursued a business associate’s unhappy wife, Beth, and soon became infatuated with her. This being Mad Men, things didn’t exactly go swimmingly for the couple from there, but we certainly think their real-life romance stands a better chance.

Alexis and Vincent (AKA Beth and Pete) join TV couples-turned-real couples like Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer of True Blood, Dexter’s Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, and Lea Michele and Glee co-star Cory Monteith.
