When a celebrity poses for Playboy, it's the ultimate acknowledgement of their D-list status and usually a last ditch attempt for a final big payday before completely fading out of the spotlight. As humiliating as that sounds, though, it could get worse: Imagine being a celebrity who is rejected by Playboy!
Pia Rizza, one of the stars of trashtastic VH1 reality show Mob Wives, was just rejected by the magazine. After finding out that nude pics were about to be released of her, she decided to release the photos herself and land a Playboy spread along the way. But Hef and Co. said they weren't interested at this time because, well, can anyone actually name a single person on that show? Pia received a $100,000 hardcore porn offer from a separate company immediately afterwards, but declined.
Luckily, she can take solace in not being the only person to receive similar humiliation. Check out 7 other celebrities who were denied access to the mansion!
When there were rumors that Kate would pose for the magazine in 2010, Hef shot them down with an emphatic "No!" before declaring that, "I don't think she's a celebrity." (We could say the same for some of his Bunny reality stars, but that's a different topic for a different day.) Even at 86 year old, Hef isn't senile enough yet to declare Kate worthy of celebrity status.
When fellow housewife Kelly Bensimon posed for Playboy in 2010, the Countess huffed to the media that "no one asked me!" But after realizing that there was no chance in hell Playboy would anytime soon, she backed down and said she wasn't interested to begin with. "I think my 15-year-old would have a heart attack if I were to do Playboy. It’s not something I really want to do,” she said.
Not that Britney ever asked, but Hef offered his opinion at the height of her craziness in 2007. Hugh released a statement saying that he "is more than happy to feature Britney in the magazine once she can put herself back on the road to recovery." Newsflash, Hef: people usually pose for your magazine before they get their stuff together, not the other way around.
When Kelly was decidedly more D-list back in 2006, she told reporters that she'd be interested in posing, but that her boobs "would need some airbrushing." In response, Hef said the magazine wasn't interested because "we don't airbrush to that extent." Ouch!
Back when Audrina was still kinda-sorta relevant in 2008, her biggest scandal involved a set of topless photos that were "accidentally" leaked to the public. It turns out she took them when she was 19 in the hopes of getting into Playboy, but she was rejected on the spot.
This teen faux-lesbian pop act came from Russia with love in the early 2000s... a lot of love. They took every opportunity to shed their clothing and make out, which led them to believe they'd be a slam dunk for Playboy when they turned 18. Unfortunately, they were rejected by German and U.S. versions of the magazine for a pictorial in 2002. They received a small blurb in the music section of the U.S. edition, but had to keep their clothes on. Whomp whomp.
Since we've only seen Courtney half-naked and acting in a sexually provocative manner, it came as little surprise that she was flooded with porn offers the day she turned 18. "No to porn...yes to Playboy ;) xxx," she tweeted. However, Hef said the magazine never approached her and wasn't interested to begin with because she is too "enhanced" for a teenager.
