The Twittersphere has been having its own version of a coming out party for NBA star Jason Collins.
Jason made worldwide headlines yesterday when he became the first active American athlete from a major sports team to reveal he's gay. He declared in an upcoming issue of Sports Illustrated: “I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay.”
Although the response has been overwhelmingly positive so far, there have been some negative backlash as well. ESPN reporter Chris Broussard referred to Jason's homosexuality as "an open rebellion to God," while Miami Dolphins player Mike Wallace posted (and quickly deleted) a tweet which said, “All these beautiful women in the world and guys wanna mess with other guys SMH.”
