Emma Roberts sure knows how to tease.
We thought we’d be seeing the Adult World actress on our TV screens this fall until Fox neglected to pick up her Hunger Games-esque pilot Delirium. But… wait for it… Emma struck a quick deal to star on an even buzzier show, Season Three of FX’s American Horror Story.
Since every season of American Horror Story is its own story, cast members don’t necessarily need to return, and those who have been killed off previously can return as new characters. The show’s most consistent star, Jessica Lange, will return for American Horror Story: Coven, along with returning cast members Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, and Taissa Farmiga, presumably all playing new characters.
No word yet on Zachary Quinto returning ― though he may be too busy being a huge movie star in stuff like Star Trek.

Emma definitely had an “in” in joining this cast, since her boyfriend is Evan Peters, who played Tate in Season One and Kit in Season Two. She’ll join several other big names who have been added to the cast for this season, including Oscar nominees Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe, Oscar and Emmy winner Kathy Bates, and Tony winner Patti LuPone.
While the plot of American Horror Story: Coven is under tight wraps, as in previous seasons, the title clearly suggests it will be about witches and it is rumored to be shot in New Orleans. Creator Ryan Murphy has said he’s looking for an “evil glamour” vibe and that there will be another Romeo & Juliet-style young love story. (Between Emma and Evan, perhaps?)
Emma has had previous experience with horror in her leading role in Scream 4, so whatever American Horror Story calls for, we know she’s up to the task.
Are you excited to see Emma take on horror again?
