Is it April Fool’s Day again already somehow… or is this story really true?
The Hanson brothers are some of the least likely figures we’d expect to find behind an adult beverage thanks to their wholesome image, but now they join Circoc’s P. Diddy and plenty of other celebs who have been associated with booze thanks to their new beer called… wait for it… Mmmhops.
Yes, you can now drink Mmmhops while you listen to “MMMbop,” and no one can Mmmstop you.
Even more random? Proceeds from the punny brew will help out the victims of the Oklahoma tornado that hit last week.
"The tragedy hits close to home, especially since this community was among the first places our band performed together, including schools which were lost in the storm,” Taylor Hanson said in a statement about the tornado that hit their home state. “We are hopeful that the proceeds we can galvanize will play a lasting role in the recovery efforts.”
And while that’s a totally noble cause, it’s a rather cheesy one ― who would ever expect disaster relief to come in the form of a pale ale brought to you by a one-hit wonder boy band from the ‘90s? If only every one-hit wonder could be repurposed as something to get drunk on!
Which got us thinking of a few other possible beer-related endorsements that could happen when paired up with a certain era of cheesy pop music…
The Wallflowers - “One Bud Light”
Baja Men - “Who Left The Hops Out?”
Eiffel 65 - “Brew (Da Ba Dee)”
The Verve - “Bitter Beer Symphony”
Chumbawumba - “Pubthumping”
Backstreet Boys - “Lager Than Life”
Brian Setzer Orchestra - “Jump Jive An' Ale”
Christina Aguilera - “Guinness In A Bottle”
NSync - “Tearin’ Up My Stout”
Jewel - “You Ferment For Me”
Okay, yes, those were all corny. But not any cornier than Mmmhops!
The collaboration with Mustang Brewing will be officially available this fall, along with Hanson’s new album, Anthem.
Would you buy some Mmmhops to aid the tornado victims?
