Vanessa Hudgens and her gal pals YLA released Spring Breakers 2 –- I mean, the music video for “$$$ex” -- and it’s pretty much what we expected after hearing the song as well as seeing the teaser (if that’s what you want to call it) a few weeks ago.
Bringing back the era of ‘90s raves with flashing lights, bright colors and all-around trippy effects, I don’t know if it’s just me, but it’s kind of hard to get through the entire video. Especially since Vanessa appears it for about 30 seconds in the middle. Or maybe she’s in it more... but it’s hard to tell. Just watch the video and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

“$$$ex” clearly didn't have much of a budget. Vanessa told E! News that they shot it in a friend’s basement. (Yeah, it looks like it.) “The video is ‘90s-inspired, gritty, with a vision of crazy lights and colors. It’s so different than everything else out there. I love it!” she said.
YLA’s Laura New discussed their vision of the music, saying, “We all wanted a retro feel to it. Then Vanessa had some really great ideas, and we all went for it… She got behind the camera and was fixing lights and made it happen.”
I’m sure some people are going to be totally into the song and the music video, playing it at their next rave, but maybe Vanessa should just stick to acting. Forever.
