Lindsay Lohan is staying on the straight and narrow once she finishes up her 90 stint in rehab by heading to the premiere of her film The Canyons at the Venice Film Festival on August 28th.

E! Online has confirmed that the festival will be LiLo’s first post-rehab appearance after her team tweeted, “Thrilled to have The Canyons premiering at Venice Film Festival!”

We’re all pretty curious as to how well the film will be perceived by festival audiences, especially since it was reportedly turned down by Sundance and SXSW earlier this year.

The Canyons is an noir thriller also starring James Dean that’s set in Los Angeles. The plot revolves around a young movie producer (James) who works on films to keep his trust fun intact. Lindsay plays his actress girlfriend who tries to hide an affair with an actor from her past. But once he finds out about it, it “thrusts the young Angelenos into a violet, sexually-charged tour through the dark side of human nature.”

It appears that Lindsay has been doing fantastically well in rehab and left Betty Ford to finish the remainder of her 90 days at Cliffside in Malibu. But why?

Sources tell TMZ that Betty Ford was great for the 30 days of her program, which LiLo has finished, and would be better suited to complete the 60s days at Cliffside. The move to her new “home” was approved by everyone, include the prosecutors, the judges and Lindsay’s lawyer. She said goodbye to Betty Ford yesterday and is now at Cliffside.

Here’s hoping this kicks off Lindsay’s comeback we’ve been waiting years for!

Do you think Lindsay’s movie premiere is the best idea for her or should she take time to herself first?
