The ongoing verbal feud between The Wanted and One Direction could soon get physical.

The two boy bands (and their fans) have been bickering for months via Twitter, but The Wanted members Max George and Jay McGuinness say they want to end things once and for all with a five-on-five boxing match!

"If they have got an issue, why don’t we actually do something financially — like make some money for a charity, and blow off some steam in a boxing ring," said Max to the New York Daily News. "It would be brilliant for TV and I have no problem with it at all. I don't think there is a better idea... [but] I don't want anyone to get savagely hurt."

One Direction have been the cause of most of the Twitter ruckus by boasting that they have bigger hits and sales worldwide than The Wanted. Anytime The Wanted have tried to fire a response back, 1D's 12 million Twitter followers have been quick to let their boy band adversaries know that that won't let that slide.

Of course, the members of The Wanted have hardly been delicate wallflowers in the verbal sparring. Last week, Max called out 1D member Louis Tomlinson as gay during an interview on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live.

Needless to say, it's doubtful this group of 10 will be going out for lunch anytime soon. "We haven't spoken," acknowleged Jay. "It’s going to be really hard to ever have a real friendship and we don’t see them enough for that — we’re not going to lose any sleep over it.”

However, all of this drama is certainly good publicity for The Wanted's current reality show venture The Wanted Life, which combines hard-partying and tail-chasing with a smidge of music-related activity. The series premiere took place last night on E!, with a party that ended with the boys' manager telling them they're getting a little too crazy. Like that will ever change...

Who do you think would win this boxing match?
