So, earlier this month Jay-Z spent six straight hours of his life by lip-synching his upcoming single “Picasso Baby” at the Pace Gallery in New York City. As this was going on, people were walking in to witness this all go down. Now, we get way he did this in the first place – for his upcoming HBO special!

Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film will debut this Friday on HBO at 11 PM, immediately following Jay’s appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher. Now, by the looks of it, it’s the music video plus everything that went into making it at the art gallery, including appearances by Alan Cumming, Judd Apatow and the artist Marina Abramovic.

"Rap is thinking out loud, and you’re putting your fears and your vulnerabilities and your insecurities to music," Jay Z says in the trailer. "Concerts are pretty much performance art, and a smaller venue is a bit more intimate, so you feel the energy of the people."

In other Jay-Z news, it seems like we missed out on quite the event last night – The Summer Legends Tour in Pasadena, California. As you may know, Jay is currently on the road with his pal Justin Timberlake for this seriously epic tour and made their stop at the The Rose Bowl last Sunday and some very famous faces were in attendance.

Out of the sold-out 60,000 (!!) arena, Robert Pattinson, Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba, Jason Bateman, Ashley Benson and more hung out with JT and Hova, making us rethink our night in and “getting beauty sleep.”
