The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards went down on Sunday and while everyone may be talking about what happened on the stage (ahem, Miley), Glee star Darren Criss was making Princeton University junior Leora Friedman’s dream come true by being his date to the big show.

All apart of Random Acts of mtvU, Darren and Leora walked the carpet to spread the word of Music is Medicine, an organization Leora started at the age of 15. Chelsea Briggs caught up with the pair on the carpet and got the inspiring story behind the organization AND details on Glee’s upcoming amazing guest stars, to boot.

Using her passion for music and philanthropy, Leora and her award-winning organization, Music is Medicine, have been helping the lives of many young patients through the years. mtvU honored her work by giving the organization a $1,000 grant to further her efforts--and surprised her with a date with Darren to the 2013 VMAs! Pretty amazing, right?

While Darren had the honor to give Music is Medicine plenty of press, he also dished on Glee’s epic guest stars lined up for the upcoming season, including Adam Lambert and Demi Lovato! “That’s more an enough already. I didn’t even know this,” Darren said. “I know them both sort of on a separate level from work and then I found out they were on the show from somebody else and I was like, ‘How come you didn’t tell me?’ But it’s going to be a really cool season.”
