What a night!
The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards went down last night at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and the biggest names in music this year took the stage for some unforgettable performances. Some were epic, some were a little uncomfortable and some were down right inspirational.
Take a look at our top five favorite performances from the big show!
Justin Timberlake / ‘N SYNC
You guys, the moment finally arrived! We’ve been hearing whispers all week that JT would be reuniting with his fellow ‘N SYNC members, even though they all pretty much failed at denying it. Hitting the stage to play a melody of his solo hits, Justin proved that he truly is one of the most talented fellas in the business. And then the reunion that lasted a split second was enough to hold us over until the next one.
Making the TV debut of her biggest single to date “Roar,” Katy headed to the Brooklyn bridge for a Rocky-themed performance. Her vocals were on point and we loved how she’ll take on any character for her music.
She’s baaack! Returning to the stage after her major hip surgery last year, Gaga opned the show with her single “Applause,” rocking a wide variety of costumes and epic dance numbers.

Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Jennifer Hudson
In an inspirational performance, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis teamed up with Mary Lambert to celebrate equal rights with her new single “Same Love,” which won them “Song With a Special Message” award that evening. But just when you thought the performance couldn’t get any better – bam! Jennifer Hudson steps out, showing all the performers of the night how you really sing. Beautiful.
