Katy Perry is having one seriously good week!

She started yesterday by finally kicking Robin Thicke and his “Blurred Lines” out of the number one spot on the Billboard charts, thanks to her self-empowering tune “Roar.” Then, just hours later she premiered vine-swinging, wild-animal loving, Tarzan-tastic “Roar” music video that we’re pretty obsessed with already. Now, she’s giving us our first look at her upcoming Prism album cover art!

Premiering the cover on Friday’s Good Morning America, Katy explained the picture-perfect cover, saying, “I shot it with this amazing New York photographer named Ryan McGinley. And I just wanted it to be pure and radiant and full of light.” Yup, it’s pretty radiant, so mission accomplished!

We always love to hear the story that go behind coming up with album titles and for Katy, Prism was all about finding the light in her life. “The reason why I named the record Prism is because, you know, for a minute I was going through a transitional period in my life. It was a little bit dark, yes, but it was kind of like what they call your return to Saturn; it’s when you’re about to go into your 30s and you actually have to be adult.”

She continued, “But, you know, I embrace the light. I let the light in and it influenced all my songs and then I get to kind of beam the light out to all of my fans through these songs. I want to make people happy, and smile.”

Prism drops on October 22nd!
