The media, fans and pretty much anyone with an internet connection gave their two cents about Miley Cyrus' twerk-tastic, foam-finger humping performance at the VMAs with Robin Thicke.
And now it's Miley's turn to talk. The controversial pop star sat down with MTV to talk about her performance and the avalanche of criticism that followed. Check it out:
Miley told MTV, "Me and Robin [Thicke] the whole time said 'You know, we're about to make history right now.'...I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times...Madonna's done it. Britney's done it. Every VMA performance, that's what you're looking for; you're wanting to make history."
And what does she have to say about all the press? "They're overthinking it," she said. "You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it 'cause that's just me."
We have to give Miley credit for how little she lets haters affect her. She's certainly developed some thick skin over the years of dealing with countless so-called controversies (and the girl is only 20 years old!). So while everyone is busy criticizing her and making easy jokes, Miley is twerking all the way to the bank.
What do you think of Miley's response? Is everyone overthinking her performance or does she deserve the criticism?
