Taylor Swift is hitting the big screen but no, she’s not jumping on the concert documentary bandwagon like other pop stars – she’s really be showing off her acting chops. She’s been cast in the film adaption of The Giver as Rosemary, the last teen who’s mentored by The Giver before Jonas.

Funny enough, she’ll be starring alongside Brenton Thwaites – a.k.a. the latest celeb she’s been linked to. But don’t worry, these two have strongly pushed that they’re “just friends.” Anyways, back to the movie!

Brenton will play Jonas who meets The Giver, played by Jeff Bridges in a dystopian world. If you thought this cast was already impressive for Taylor, it gets even better! Meryl Streep will portray Chief Elder and Alexander Skarsgard and Katie Holmes as Jonas’ parents. What?! This casting is nuts!

Production will kick off next month in South Africa and we know you’re dying to know when you can catch this film on the big screen. Well, the release date is planned for August 2014. Let’s hope that Taylor’s acting skills have improved since her role in Valentine’s Day.
