Knowing Lady Gaga, we really should have seen this one coming. During her ARTPOP album release party in New York City, Gaga unveiled the world’s first flying dress. Yup, you read that right. A flying dress.

Naming the battery-powered dress Volantis, the “metal dress” as Gaga calls it has been in the works for the past two years and is a “big-time step” for Gaga. “Volantis is essentially a vehicle,” the singer explained. Making its debut, Gaga donned the dress and flew the contraption 70 inches across the floor of a building at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. You just can’t make this stuff up.

Speaking about her invention, Gaga explained, “I wanted to make today about something even more important to me, and that something is the young of the world. Their minds are just so boundless. They’re so inspiring. Although she is a vehicle, she is essentially a metaphor for me. I will be a vehicle today for this voices.”

We just don’t even know what to say about this one except this is one fashion trend we probably won’t be trying.
