We all know by now that 16-year-old Lorde has no problem speaking her mind when it comes to her peers in the music industry. She’s thrown some shade at stars like Selena Gomez, David Guetta, One Direction, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and many others. Her latest victims? Drake and Nicki Minaj!
Lorde chatted with Interview about the two stars and had this to say: “Around the middle of last year I started listening to a lot of rap, like Nicki Minaj and Drake, as well as pop singers like Lana Del Rey. They all sing about such opulence, stuff that just didn’t relate to me – or anyone that I knew. I began thinking, ‘How are we listening to this? It’s completely irrelevant.’”

Yeah, Drake and Nicki don’t rap about all too familiar topics but isn’t that kind of what their music is about? And is it just us or does it seem like every interview with Lorde lately is all about what she will talk about next? It just seems like she’s getting all the wrong kind of attention – it’s about who she’ll trash talk and not about her music anymore.
Lorde also dished about growing into her fame, saying, “That’s the good thing about starting off in New Zealand, there is absolutely no concept of ‘celebrity’ or fame.”
She continued, “Famous people here, like Shortland Street actors, you all have mutual friends on Facebook, you know? Yeah, people are starting to recognize me now, which is kind of weird. But in New Zealand, it’s easy to hide from that stuff.”
