One Direction are in some copyright hot water – again. This time, it’s with one of rock’s most popular bands ever with one of the most well-known rock songs… ever. According to reports, Def Leppard has their lawyers working on finding the similarities between their classic “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and 1D’s “Midnight Memories.”

A source said, “Music lawyers will routinely scour hits like this one to see if there is any evidence that a band has either copied or cleverly mimicked a Def Leppard song. These cases can often take weeks to sort out because we are not talking about peanuts here – the 1D album is selling millions and if the title track goes out as a single it will generate even more money.”

1D’s “Midnight Memories,” which was co-written by Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, definitely carries that ‘80s rock feel like Def Leppard’s tune but we wouldn’t be surprised if this case didn’t make it to court.

This isn’t the first time that 1D has been accused of stealing songs. “Best Song Ever” is said to sound similar to The Who’s “Baby O’Riley” and “Live While You’re Young” is close to a tune by The Clash.

What do you think? Do the songs sound similar?
