Who needs press releases, promotions, teasers or pretty much anything to announce a new album when you’re Beyoncé? We all got the ultimate early Christmas gift from Queen Bey herself. Out of nowhere, a brand new, self-titled visual album popped up on iTunes from the singer, featuring 14 songs and 17 music videos! Wait, what?!

The Internet blew up with the news of a new Beyoncé record, having it sell over 80,000 copies in just three hours, pretty much guaranteeing that it’ll take the number one spot on the Billboard charts! Three hours! That’s insane! With collaborations with Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean, Drake, Blue Ivy (yes, we own child) and so many more, Beyoncé completely changed the game when it comes to releasing new materials.

Making the official announcement on her Facebook page, Beyoncé explained, “I see music. It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.”

Don’t get us wrong, we’re unbelievably excited about this album, but many are left wondering why she decided to do everything the way she did. “I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it,” she said. “I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”

So let’s get this straight: Beyoncé released a 14 song album, created 17 music videos and went on a world tour in 2013. Can we officially call her Super Woman now?!
