Macklemore and Ryan Lewis dominated the 2014 Grammy Awards, taking home three gold trophies, including “Best Rap Album” for The Heist. But while this should be an exciting moment for the duo, Macklemore felt the award belonged to someone else – his good friend and fellow nominee, Kendrick Lamar.

Macklemore posted the text he sent to Kendrick after his win, saying he “robbed” him of the award. "You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have," Macklemore wrote via text to Kendrick Lamar. "It's weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech, and I froze. Anyway, you know what it is. Congrats on this year and your music. Appreciate you as an artist and as a friend. Much love."

Along with the screen shot of the text, Macklemore elaborated by captioning the photo, “With that being said, thank you to the fans. You’re the reason we were on that stage tonight. And to play Same Love on that platform was a career highlight. The greatest honor of all. That’s what this is about. Progress and art. Thank you #grammys.”

While it’s super nice of Macklemore to send love to his dear friend and nominee, we just have one question: why does he 1,133 unread text messages?! You’ve got some work to do, Mack.
