The couple released a statement on their decision, saying, “We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.” The couple, who have known each other since 1993 when Robin was only 14-years-old, have been together pretty much since the moment they met. They married in 2005.
Their relationship came into question by the public following the release of Robin’s “Blurred Lines” music video. While many wives would be either jealous or a bit upset with their husbands all up on naked girls, Paula had no problem. “I watched that video and I was a little bit jealous and then I wanted to jump his bones,” she said. “I was like, ‘I want to take you down right now.’ That’s how I know it’s a hit.”
After the video, it was his controversial MTV VMA performance where Miley Cyrus grinded all over him in front of millions of people. But, again, Paula was totally cool with it all. “It doesn’t affect me any more at all. It’s just so funny because when I saw him perform I was like, ‘You guys killed it!’ We hugged each other, we went out, celebrated. The next day, my cell phone [has] all these texts. ‘Praying for you.’ ‘If you need to talk, I’m here,’” Paula told E! “Why are people making such a big deal about it? Quite frankly, all my friends dance like that with him. He’s like the guy that you can dance with, ‘cause he’s safe!”
Just days later, a photo of Robin posing with a mystery blonde at a VMA after-party with his hand groping her bottom surfaced, leaving many to question Robin’s infidelity. But according to sources, the couple was a-okay with it all.
No word on the cause of Robin and Paula’s separation has been revealed at this time.
