If we were to crown someone the King of YouTube, the title would definitely go to the one and only Tyler Oakley. With four million subscribers under his belt, he’s created a brand and opened so many doors for himself, all just from the comfort of his own living room. Interviewing One Direction? Check. Meeting President Obama? Check. World domination? Oh, it’s happening.

Chelsea Briggs caught up with Tyler during his hectic weekend at 2014 Playlist Live in Orlando, Florida to talk about his crazy year, how he deals with all the attention and bonding with fellow YouTubers.

Besides having a blast meeting thousands of his fans in Orlando, Tyler had another reason to celebrate during the weekend – it was his birthday! But instead of expecting to be showered with gifts, he did something different. He’s been raising money for The Trevor Project and just to hear him talk about shows how passionate he is about the organization.

“This year, I wanted to up the stakes and my people all delivered. They got involved and our goal was $150,000 and we have almost raised $350,000,” he explained. “I couldn’t have done it without all these people. It’s the coolest thing, we’re doing something good. To me, it’s just using my birthday to help other people reach more of their birthdays.”
