Sophia Grace just released a music video for her very-catchy song “Girl in the Mirror,” and let me tell you, the 13-year old rolled some seriously valuable lessons into the tune, too. Silento (from mega-hit “Watch Me Whip/Nae Nae”) joins Sophia for this body confident track. Watch the pink-covered music video, then check out all the lessons we learned from it!

1. It’s Cool to Love Yourself

Sophia kicks off the video rolling out of bed (in killer rainbow pajamas, btw. Where can I get these?), and sings, “I wake up every day, like ‘hello beautiful,’ cause this world’s so crazy and it can bring you down. You’re too short, too fat, too skinny… Well excuse me if I think that I’m pretty.” Isn’t it crazy that we almost have to apologize for loving ourselves? Whether it’s our looks, our talents, or our humor, we’re told confidence is good, but if we’re too confident, well that puts people off. Know what I think? And I’m pretty sure Sophia would back me up-- let’s just love ourselves and let other people worry about their own stuff! Loving yourself is cool.

2. Be Proud to Be Different

“So I don’t care what you say cause I’m original. And I learned how to love me from my head down to my toes.” So important! As my BFF once told me, “You’re gonna hang out with yourself way more than anyone else for the rest of your life, so you might as well love who you are.”

Not gonna lie though, I legit listened to this line probably 10 times trying to figure out if she was giving Ellen Degeneres a shoutout (“Ellen love me”?) Ha!

3. You’re Never Too Young to Collab with a Rapper

Were you guys at all surprised to see Sophia Grace collaborating with Silento? Sophia is known for her and Rosie’s cover of Nicki Minaj’s song “Super Bass,” but I don’t know if I would have seen this collab coming! However, Sophia Grace and Silento make such a killer team, especially when they have that adorable chat toward the end of the video.  Sophia asks the 18-year old rapper, “"Hey Silento? Is there anything you would change about yourself?" Silento replies,"I dance a lot, but I don't think there's anything I would change. How about you?" Sophia responds, "No, I like who I am." Aww guys! I’m feeling the big bro/little sis love.

4. Thinking Positive Will Do You Wonders

Sophia gives us the killer message with her song. “Even if you’re down, better get up. Every setback’s just another set up for something just a little bit better.” What a great attitude when looking at adversity! It reminds me of the quote, "An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backwards. So when life is dragging you down with difficulties, it means it's going to launch you into something great." Cheesy? Maybe. Valuable lesson? Yes!

5. Guys Can Be Feminists, Too

“Yeah girl, I’m watching you, you got that swagger, you got that glow!” Silento rapped. “Love your style and your rhythm flow! Got that girl power, girl power! Put your hands up for that girl power!” Silento excitedly sang. How cool is it that guys are finally celebrating girl power?
