As if professional movie reviewers didn't already have the world's most awesome job, here's another major reason to be jealous of them: they've already seen The Hunger Games!
While the rest of us have been counting the days/hours/minutes until the movie hits theaters (tonight at midnight!!), reviewers have been busy writing up their critical responses to the film.
So what did they think of the movie? Did Jennifer Lawrence do the character of Katniss justice? How did director Gary Ross balance the violence depicted in the book with the film's PG-13 rating? Find out the answers to all these questions and more in our Hunger Games review roundup!
The 1984 remake of the musical-drama, Footloose dances
it's way into theatres October 14th, and lucky for us, here at Hollywire
we got a sneak peek of the film and can't wait to spill the deets on just
how amazing it is!
So, get amped to 'cut loose' next month (or maybe even earlier, if you continue reading on) and click after the jump to check out these awesome
exclusive video clips featuring interviews with the director and stars of the film, Kenny Wormaldand Julianne Hough, as they chat about the making of the movie and more!
Anyone who ever thought Justin Bieber’s teen-idol mug would
never be delivered in glorious 3D to cineplexes all over the world can now put
such idle thoughts to rest. The miraculous Youtube sensation’s meteoric rise
has now been honored with a cinematic documentary treatment that may be
generating more screaming from teenage girls than every boy band who ever
lived. My ears are still ringing!
Adam Sandler utilizes the reluctant help of the stunningly
beautiful Jennifer Aniston to help him win the heart of the even stunninglier
beautiful Brooklyn Decker in his latest romantic comedy. Sandler fans will find
everything they love about him in the movie while Sandler enemies will
find everything they hate. Originality mostly takes a back seat to traditional
Sandler-esque comedy, as usual. And I have no problem with it!
Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly takes on the role of an Iowan college student studying in LA where all the girls are as beautiful as her and some, like Gossip Girl Leighton Meester, want to weasel their way into her life and weasel her out of it. Sadly the movie is an unimaginative romp through tired thriller cliches, unwilling or unable to wring a single fresh idea out of the well-worn stalker premise. Single White Femalefans are understandably offended, but most of the rest of us will just be bored...
As one of the most buzzed about premiere feature films at this years Sundance 2011, Emma Roberts and Freddie Highmore star in the coming of age romantic comedy that is Homework.
With a stellar cast, a seemingly cute story line -- all and all the movie sadly seemed to fall a bit flat when it came time for delivery. With Freddie Highmoresettling into his character quite well, Emma Roberts didn't seem to do much of anything. Which of course makes us sad, since we have always had high hopes for the little Roberts starlet.
First impressions are crucial, and the first thought I had
when I heard the title of Gnomeo & Juliet was “how in the world are they going to turn Romeo & Juliet into
an animated children’s movie?” We all remember how the thing ended, right?
I’m normally not a fan of altering source material, but I’ve
never seen it done as cleverly as it is in this movie. I’ve seen Romeo &
Juliet performed live on Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, England, and this
movie was more fun. Bravo!
Legendary director Ivan Reitman pulls out all the stops in
removing all those uppity notions of true love or honor from his screenplay,
flipping the traditional romantic comedy formula fully into reverse, possibly
for the first time. True believers in marriage before physical love will be
horrified by this story of constant copulation and then love. Unless, of course, love can possibly be
avoided.
The rest of us, however, may get a pretty good kick out of
it.
