Demi Lovato, Austin Anderson and More Perform at Winterfest

Posted on 03 December 2008 by xXxTerra

On Sunday, November 30, Disney’s Demi Lovato performed on Hollywood and Highland at Winterfest, a celebration presented by Lift Up America to benefit the less fortunate in the Los Angeles community.

Watch Demi and her Disney friends on the Santa Parade:

Thousands of kids and families in need had the opportunity to walk the red carpet as the “stars” of the night on Holllywood Boulevard and were VIP guests at Demi Lovato’s concert. The kids were stoked to meet their favorite Disney and teen stars, including: Corbin, J*Smith, Ashlee Keating, Brock Storm, Shytown, Savvy and Mandy, Veno, Drew Seeley and our very own Austin Anderson!

Austin tells Hollywire:

Winterfest 2008 was pretty awesome! It was for a great cause and it was really cool that they had a “reverse” red carpet, so all of us were on the outside of the carpet. I was near Corbin Bleu, who’s a really cool dude. Then, about 2,000 kids who would not have had a Christmas this year for one reason or another, got off the bus one by one and Radio Disney announced THEM on the red carpet! They were the special stars for the night and we were all giving them high five’s and taking their photos as they came down the red carpet. The concert was amazing, too. I got to perform on a huge stage and then I got to meet Demi Lovato and watch her perform. She was amazing, what a great voice. The night ended with each kid getting a big bag of toys. Radio Disney was there all day making sure the kids had fun and that the concert was going smoothly. I met some great new friends as well. I hope to go again next year.

Check out the photos that Austin sent us of the event and his performance.  Looks like he’s got all the young ladies excited! (Click on image to enlarge)

Miley Cyrus is Pissed at Disney

Posted on 06 November 2008 by xXxTerra

Miley Cyrus is not too happy Disney cancelled her Hannah Montana episode on diabetes, especially since she is a huge supporter of the fight against diabetes (her pal Nick Jonas suffers from the condition). Disney even aired a promo in which Nick Jonas talked about his own battle with diabetes.

Ever since the news on the episode cancellation, Miley has been making an interesting statement while overseas this past week. She is dropping the vague comment “Drink Water Not Sugar” and continuously posing with Hint water bottles, the company who launched this diabetes-minded campaign and has the message branded on the bottle.

Sources say that the rumors that she is affiliated with the campaign are untrue:

Everyone is wondering if she is a spokesperson or involved in some paid partnership but the answer is “NO”. She just happens to love the campaign message and found a way to make a silent, yet powerful statement for a cause that she loves after being let down with news that viewers attacked her diabetes episode.

Miley Cyrus Has Finished Writing Her Life Story

Posted on 14 October 2008 by Loretta

Earlier this year, Miley Cyrus and Disney announced that Miley had agreed to write an autobiography and it’s not surprising that she has already finished writing it.  How much is there to write about when you are only 15 years old?

Miley was reportedly paid a large sum of money to write an “inspiring story” about her life.  Miley said,

I’m not sure when it’s going to come out.  It’s finished, but you’ve got a long process of editing and all that kind of stuff, so it takes a while.

I sure hope it’s a picture book because a lot of people interested in Miley’s life story are in the age group that can’t read yet.

Miley Cryus Snubs the Gay Community

Posted on 28 September 2008 by Loretta

Miley Cyrus and Disney have reportedly dissed the gay community by throwing Miley’s sweet 16 party on the same weekend that is usually reserved for Gay Days.  Gay Days is an event that brings thousands of gays and lesbians to Disneyland and is celebrated on the same weekend every year, but this year Disney chose to have Miley’s party on that weekend. The entire park is being closed for Miley’s sweet 16 celebration on October 5th even though her actual birthday is in November.  Do you think this was purposely planned by Disney or a coincidence?

Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus Try to Get Fired from Disney

Posted on 20 September 2008 by Loretta

TMZ.com is reporting that Miley Cyrus and her dear old dad, Billy Ray, want off from the Hannah Montana show and will stop at nothing to make it happen.

Miley and Billy Ray have made it clear that they wish to shift their focus from acting to singing because there is more money in singing.

A TMZ source claims that Miley and Billy Ray have been showing up to the set of Hannah Montana late, stalling production, and infuriating the cast and crew. The situation has gotten so bad that Miley’s co-star Emily Osment can’t even face Miley and turns away from her after each scene and Emily’s dad went off on Billy Ray for being unprofessional.

Disney wants Miley and her dad to finish the season, which consist of 24 episodes, but they only want to do twelve more episodes then call it quits.

So, I have to ask, is this the reason behind all of Miley’s scandals?  Was she purposely trying to ruin her wholesome Disney image to get fired?  It sure is funny how quickly a person forgets where they came from.  Disney made Miley famous; the least she could do is finish the season.  And what about her loyal fans?  What do you think?

Austin Anderson - Disney’s Next Teen Heart Throb?

Posted on 15 September 2008 by Becky

He can sing, he can dance, and he can play the drums… he has the looks and the talent… Austin Anderson has it all.

Who is Austin Anderson, you ask?  Austin is a 14 year-old aspiring actor and performer.  He has already released two hit singles, “Your Song” and “Around the World,” on Radio Disney and he has performed in several movies and TV shows, including Disney’s Hannah Montana.

Austin co-wrote “Your Song” and said,

After I performed at the Rady Children’s Hospital of San Diego and saw how much the kids loved music I decided I wanted to write a song about them that would benefit them, too.  A lot of these kids spend the holidays in a hospital and I like to go perform for them and see them smile again.

In addition to his continued volunteer time at the Rady Children’s Hospital of San Diego, Austin attends other charity events.  I had the pleasure of meeting Austin at the Rhinestone Productions charity Fashion Show that supported the Make-a-Wish Foundation on Friday, September 12th and I can tell that Austin wasn’t at the event to recieve a pat on the back or some PR.  He is truly a caring teen who wants to be involved in charity and help others.  Check out the clip of Austin singing and of him dancing on Ellen DeGeneres below or if you want to learn more about Austin Anderson go to austinanderson.net.

‘Cheetah Girls One World’ Viewing Party

Posted on 24 August 2008 by Loretta

Friday night hundreds of tweens came out to the Buena Park mall in Buena Park, California to party with Radio Disney at the Cheetah Girls One World Viewing Party. It was a night full of fun and excitement that kids of all ages enjoyed.

Radio Disney put on a talent show with the grand prize being a pair of tickets to the Cheetah Girls concert and a chance to meet the Cheetah Girls themselves. Special guest Rupak Ginn from Bollywood was in attendance as the celebrity judge of the talent show.

Rupak is an actor from India that plays the part of Rahim in Cheetah Girls One World. Hollywire had the opportunity to ask Rupak some questions and I must say he was one of the sweetest actors I’ve met.

Hollywire: What was it like working with the Cheetah Girls?

Rupak: The Cheetah Girls were wonderful. Coming to set everyday was pleasant. There was such a warm presence on the set.

Hollywire: How does Disney in India compare to Disney in the U.S.?

Rupak: Disney is well known in India. Its a trademark name. They have Disney shows in India just like the U.S.

Hollywire: If you had to pick one Cheetah Girl to work with again, who would it be?

Rupak: That’s a tough one. That’s really tough. All the girls were great. All the leading ladies, the Cheetah Girls and the fourth leading female Deepti Daryanahi are fantastic.

Hollywire: Are you married?

Sorry ladies Rupak said, “yes.”

If you haven’t seen the Cheetah Girls One World you should check it out, my kids made me watch it and it was pretty good. It is nice to see Disney add some outside culture to their movies.
