DJ AM Sues Over Plane Crash

Posted on 29 December 2008 by Pink Panther

DJ AM is now suing over the jet crash that almost took his life in September and killed 4 people.

The lawsuit was filed today in  L.A. County Superior Court by Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM.  In the suit he claims that as the jet reached takeoff speed the pilots became aware that one or more of the tires had blown. The suit insists, “Rather than proceed to takeoff, they decided to abort and/or reject the takeoff in a negligent manner.” The plane proceeded to overshoot the runway and then instantly burst into flames.

He is suing the deceased pilots family, Sarah Lemmon and James Blank.  He is also suing Clay Lacy Aviation, Global Exec Aviation, Inter Travel & Services Inc, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co, and Learjet.

DJ AM is suing for pain and suffering, lost earnings, property damage, past and future medical and health-related expenses, and punitive damages.

Travis Barker has already filed a similar suit.

Carmelo Anthony’s ‘JORDAN MELO M5 Shoe’ Launch Party

Posted on 24 November 2008 by Travis Snyder

In LA there are certain events that you know you want to attend based on who’s involved in throwing it.

Everyone here in the scene knows that if you get an invite from an associate at LAN-BNC PR, you better show up or you’ll be missing out on something big — always A-class events with the best of the best handling them.

I know Melo was excited when he arrived at his party…

After attending this fly event I looked into how much Melo got from this Nike deal. Here’s what I found:

Cal Andrews, vice president of BDA Sports Management, declined to give the terms of the extension, but one source put it at just over $60 million for seven years. With royalties, the deal would make him the second highest-paid player behind LeBron James among Nike’s NBA clients, just ahead of Sonics rookie Kevin Durant. [proathletesonly]

“Welcome Home, DJ AM” Party

Posted on 16 October 2008 by Jyl

After recovering from the plane crash that killed four others and seriously injured Travis Barker and himself, DJ A.M. was celebrated at a “Welcome Home” party Tuesday night at the Avalon in Hollywood.  The party was also a benefit for the families of the victims of the plane crash.

Part of DJ AM’s head was shaved from the accident after having a skin graft operation; the stylish DJ made the look work for him by fashioning it into a mohawk.  But besides looking good, DJ AM also showed his concern and support for Travis Barker, who was unable to attend; AM  said “say a prayer for my man, Travis”, throughout the night.

The event hosted such celebrities as Tila Tequila (with girlfriend Courtenay Semel), Simon Rex, Mark Ronson (brother of Sam and fellow DJ; he showed up with an interesting ManBag), will.i.am (who rapped alongside over Steve Aoki’s DJing), Camilla Belle, and Hillary Duff (a quick 6 degrees of seperation: Hillary Duff dated Joel Madden for two years before they broke up; he had a baby with Nicole Richie, who used to be DJ AM’s fiancee).

The night featured some great sets (to see the complete line-up, check out the pic below).  We’re glad that DJ AM is recovering nicely, and that this benefit was able to help the people hurt by the crash tragedy.

Check out the party attendies below!

Travis Barker and DJ AM are Expected to Make a Full Recovery

Posted on 21 September 2008 by Loretta

Dr. Fred Mullins, the Medical Director at Joseph Still Burn Center in Georgia held a press conference this morning, September 21st, regarding Travis Barker and DJ AM’s condition.  Mullins said that both Barker and Goldstein are being treated for second and third degree burns, but he expects a full recovery.

Dr. Mullins said,

Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn’t suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected.

Barker was burned on his torso and lower body and DJ AM suffered burns to a portion of his head and his arms.  They both remain in the hospital’s intensive-care unit in critical but stable condition.

Dr. Mullins says that it may take a year to recover, however he expects that it will be sooner than that.  Mullins also read a statement from the families that said,

The families wish to thank fans from all over the world for their prayers and concern.  Deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of those who perished in the crash.  As the two recuperate and mourn this loss, privacy for them their families and friends is requested at this time.

If you wish to express your thoughts and well wishes to Barker or Goldstein you can email them at doctors-hospital.net, just click on “visitors” then “email patient.”

Travis Barker & DJ AM’s Plane Crashed Last Night

Posted on 20 September 2008 by Loretta

Travis Barker (Blink-182) and DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) were critically injured in a plane crash in South Carolina last night. Barker, Goldstein, and four other passengers were on the plane that departed just before midnight on Friday, September 19th.

Air traffic control reported seeing sparks, then the plane went off the end of the runway and crashed through a fence, finally stopping on an embankment on the other side of a five-lane highway completely engulfed in flames.

Barker and Goldstein were likely both thrown from the plane in the fiery crash–other sites are claiming they jumped from the plane to safe themselves–but each of them have suffered critical burns. Travis Barker was burned from the waste down and DJ AM was burned on his face and other parts of his body. They are currently being treated in the burn unit of a Georgia hospital.

A witness to the crash, William Owens, said he was on the highway as a fireball came racing across the road just about 800 feet in front of his car. He didn’t even know what he was seeing until he was finally able to make out the tail of a jet. He jumped out of his car to help, had to leap over flames on the road and saw Barker and Goldstein running and jumping around, throwing clothes off, trying to get the flames out. They told him there were others on the plane; but, unfortunately, the plane was so engrossed in flames there was nothing Owen’s could do to help save the remaining 4 passengers.

Both the pilot ( Sarah Lemmon, 31) and co-pilot ( James Bland, 52) along with two other passengers (Chris Baker, 29 and Charles Still, 25) died in the crash. Chris is said to be Travis’ assistant, and Charles, security. All, including the pilots, are from our local Southern California. We are very saddened to hear this news. Our thought and prayers are with their families.
