Madonna dedicates her classic ‘Like a Virgin’ to Pope Benedict XVI while performing her Sticky and Sweet Tour in Rome.  Sounds appropriate.  You know the old saying,  “When in Rome!”

Her reasoning?  Because he loves her.  Oh, Madonna!  Everyone loves you!

She told the crowd: “I dedicate this song to the Pope because I’m a child of God. All of you are also children of God.”

She sounds pretty good a cappella. I thought it was harmless enough, but I guess the Roman media is all over this saying the dedication to the pontiff was “a surprising provocation.”  Also, the Catholic community says that the remark was disrespectful.

Madonna kicked off her Sticky and Sweet Tour last night in Cardiff Wales. 40,000 fans filled the Millennium Stadium to watch Madonna perform. Madonna, who just turned 50 last week, came on stage looking just as hot as she did the first time we saw her perform back in 1985. She wore her usual risque attire, a black leotard outfit designed by Givenchy and black knee high boots. 24 year old fan Ruth Henson said,

We enjoyed it to the max. Madonnna, considering she’s now 50, is so fit. She did a really good job.

The Sticky and Sweet Tour has 50 scheduled show dates and is expected to gross an estimated $250 million. The tour will feature music by Justin Timberlake, Kayne West , Pharrell Williams, and Britney Spears, some of which also appear in video clips. Check out the clips from Madonna’s concert.

It’s clear to see why Madonna is the best-selling female rock artist of the twentieth century.

Nothing like fixing a marriage by adopting a child.

Madonna plans on adopting three-year-old Mercy James, whom she first met when she visited Malawi. She originally scraped her year-long battle for the little girl when her marriage hit the rocks, but now that it appears like everything is back on track she is reconsidering.

Malawian adoption minister Penstone Kilembe said: “ Madonna’s’s representatives have been visiting the girl. The adoption is now advanced — all the government is waiting for is Madonna to forward the petition of adoption formalities.

“Then Mercy will be able to leave the country for a new life.”

Pals of Madonna say that she is very excited to adopt another child for their Malawian adopted son David Banda.

A close family friend revealed: “The adoption process in Malawi is so long and stressful that all the legal wrangling put a huge strain on their marriage.

“They dropped proceedings to pour all their energies into each other. But Madonna now feels they are stable enough to press ahead with the adoption again.”

The friend said Madge “fell in love” with Mercy when they met at her orphanage last year.

Unfortunately, adopting Mercy may not be as simple for Madonna as she would hope.

Mercy’s grandmother Lucy Chekechiwa, who has been asked repeatedly if an “unidentified foreign family” can adopt her, and she is firmly against it.

Speaking from her village in Zomba District, Lucy said: “We know that it is Mercy who Madonna really wants. We heard it is because my granddaughter is such a beautiful, happy child.

The child has been living in an orphanage since her birth mother died during child-birth. When the child is old enough, her family would like her back.

Lucy said, “When Mercy is no longer a baby we want her back. I do not want the money they said they’d give me.”

“Twice I have told the adoption people that I do not want Mercy to go outside the country.

“But they keep on at us. Now they say that Mercy will be leaving us, but can return at age 18. Yet I might not be alive then.”

Tough situation. Should the child be sent across the country with strangers who have the money to take proper care of her or stay in her country’s orphanage with frequent visits from her family members who seem truly determined to get enough money bring her home?

Madonna might be at the center of a sex tape scandal! A sleaze ball claims to have a video of Madonna and baseball player Alex Rodriguez getting down on a sofa in some guy’s apartment. Not only that, but he is trying to sell the tape! Word is that he shot with a hidden camera in the apartment. According to this guy, his friend’s place was used by the couple for secret liaisons - for a cool 1 million pounds.

The unnamed owner of the tape, who is a cameraman, says he visited the property and hid a camera, pointed at the sofa which captured the X-rated footage two months ago.

Creepy!

A legal source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper that the cameraman could be facing a mountain of trouble for the so-called secret filming, saying:

“If footage was obtained in this way it would be an outrageous invasion of privacy. But more than that he would not have had his friend’s consent to install the camera and must have entered the apartment without approval to hide it. He would be guilty of voyeurism. Instead of making a million he’d be going to jail for a few years.”

Madonna, 49, has vehemently denied rumors she has been having an affair with baseball player Alex - known as A-Rod - and has repeatedly denied reports of trouble in her marriage to Guy Ritchie.

Madonna’s lawyers are “aware” of the sex tape claims, but have refused to comment further.

Madonna has finally broken her silence about her alleged affair with Alex Rodriguez. In an exclusive statement to People magazine Madonna says,

My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study.

Madonna may think that she had nothing to do with the state of A-Rod’s marriage but according to Cynthia Rodriquez’s lawyer, Earle Lilly, Madonna’s relationship with Alex was “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

And Celebrity News is reporting that A-Rod’s former trainer claims that “‘Alex, God bless him, is lost. ‘He’ll only listen to [her] music’ while driving, and goes ‘into a trance’ if one of her videos comes on at the gym. ‘He’s more infatuated with the fact he’s with an icon instead of realizing what’s important, which is family and truth. Alex [is acting like] he wants a divorce.’”

That is kind of creepy. Madonna makes it seem like they are mere acquaintances and Alex sounds like a stalker. Maybe Madonna should consider getting a restraining order against him. What do you think?

Rumor is Madonna has asked Britney Spears to join her on tour.

Apparently Madonna feels that it will help resurrect Britney’s career if she appears on the Sticky & Sweet Tour.  However, if Britney does perform it will only be on some of the dates not the entire tour.

According to The Sun,

They are recording a video together on Sunday that will provide the backdrop for part of Madonna’s show.  And they are talking about Britney taking stage on a few of the dates too.  It’s hoped that Madonna can help Britney get back to her old self.

Madonna and Britney last performed together at the 2003 MTV Music Awards when they shocked the world by sharing a passionate kiss during their performance.  If the rumors turn out to be true we can only hope that Britney is ready to perform this time.  If she performs like she did at the VMA’s her career will be ruined forever.

Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour is scheduled to begin August 23rd.

Cynthia Rodriguez is blaming Madonna and her religion, Kabbalah, for breaking up her 5 year marriage to A-Rod.

A-Rod, who plays for the New York Yankees, has been spotted making late night visits to Madonna’s apartment that date back as early as the day his 2nd child was born.  According to the Daily News, Cynthia told a friend,

I feel like Madonna is using mind control over him.  I don’t recognize the man he’s become.  He was a sweet, beautiful, loving husband and father.  Today, he’s very cold and calculating.

And to add insult to injury a source close to the family claims that Cynthia “found a letter where Alex told Madonna: ‘You are my true soul-mate.”

Cynthia, who is completely devastated about splitting from her husband, has reportedly flown to Paris to be with Lenny Kravitz and “to clear her head.”

I can’t believe A-Rod would chose Madonna over his wife.  I know looks aren’t everything, but his wife is hott!!  Madonna is just old and nasty.
