Newlyweds Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz confirm in a statement just released that they are indeed expecting a child
“While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family.”

Ashlee Simpson married her boyfriend of two years, Pete Wentz, last night, May 17th.
The ceremony took place at the home of Ashlee’s parent in Encino, Ca. A spokesperson for the couple told People magazine that,
We’re delighted to confirm that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were married this evening in front of family and close friends.
Ashlee’s dad, Joe Simpson, performed the ceremony, which was followed by an Alice in Wonderland themed reception.
The event was a small, intimate affair with a guest list that included; Big sis Jessica and her boyfriend Tony Romo, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, and Donald Faison and his girlfriend CaCee Cobb.
Tis the season for shotgun weddings! It seems that Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz may very well be making an honest woman out of Ashlee Simpson this Saturday, who is best known as a singer/Jessica Simpson’s little sister.
The wedding location is being kept on the down-low, but San Diego and Santa Barbara are the two major cities that are being speculated about, especially since big sis Jessica was seen out and about San Diego recently.
The wedding talk has also been mixed with baby rumors; if the nuptials actually take place this Saturday, I think it will just be adding fuel to the fire that a baby is on the way! Ashlee should know all about newlyweds, considering she was on a reality show with the same name. And hopefully Pete and Ashlee won’t come to the same fate as that power-couple…they should be okay as long as they keep their marriage away from any reality show proposals. Now the real question is: who will Jessica take as her date?
While vacationing in Costa Rica Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz were robbed. Simpson said, ” We’d go to sleep and wake up, and the maid wasn’t even here , but sunglasses, my sony, my favorite wireseal hat, all this stuff, my favorite make-up bag was gone. We were like where is everything?”
When the newly engaged couple reported the items missing to resort staff they were told that they were robbed by monkeys. The resort claims that monkeys like to steal shiny items from hotel guest’s rooms.
Although it is a very unlikely story, I guess it is possible. Kinda creepy having monkeys enter your room while you sleep.
There has been a lot of speculation lately about whether or not Ashlee Simpson is preggers. On Tuesday, Ashlee avoiding giving a straight answer about the rumors during an interview with MTV, only said, “Some things you want to keep personal.” Pete also made repeated comments to MTV denying the pregnancy. But now we find out they are just a bunch of liars! Silly Ashlee and Pete… don’t you know the truth always gets out in Hollywood??
People magazine, who is known for sharing the legit side of the story, reported the news Tuesday evening on their website. Apparently, a source close to the Simpson family revealed that the two plan on getting married next month at a friend’s house in La Jolla, Calif., north of San Diego and that she is indeed pregnant.
I wonder if Joe Simpson had anything to do with this publicity stunt comment to People?
Well, now we know that she really is preggers, let’s just wait for the announcement from the happy couple!
Ok! magazine and Us weekly have both reported that the reason for Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz’s recent engagement news was because Ashlee is pregnant.
But in an e-mail to MTV News, Wentz denied the reports.
“There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood,” he wrote. “This is all news to me. I can’t wait for the story about how I’m really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover. … I mean really, this is crazy. … I mean we’re engaged, that’s true, and happy about it.”
Asked again if he was denying reports that Simpson is pregnant, Wentz replied, “Yeah.”Ok! magazine claims that a source close to the couple has “proof” that the rumors are true.
On one occasion, Simpson seemed to be dealing with a “fierce bout of what appeared to be morning sickness” during a lunch at Malibu’s Chart House restaurant.
“Ashlee would like to walk down the aisle before she’s showing,” a source told OK! “Although she’s very cute the way she’s always checking out her belly now and asking everyone, ‘Am I showing yet?’ ”
On Monday, a spokesperson for the couple added fuel to the speculation by declining to confirm nor deny this week’s rumors. “We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple,” the rep told MTV News. “Beyond that there is nothing to add.”
The couple released a statement about how happy they are about getting married, but failed to mention the pregnancy. Like we wouldn’t find out. I am sure that the pregnancy did not play a role in Pete’s decision to propose, right? If it was even his decision at all. I can imagine what controlling grandpa Joe had to say about the matter. Wow–who wouldn’t want to be a fly on the wall for that conversation!?! We all know Petey went straight to Gramps to ask his permission to marry Ashlee, but I wonder if they already knew about her little bun in the oven at that point….interesting….
Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are finally engaged. I wonder what Papa Joe thinks about this…I’m guessing he’s not too thrilled. I mean, if he didn’t think Nick Lachey was good enough for his precious Jessica, I can’t see that he’d think Ashlee’s choice was much better….I also wouldn’t doubt that their relationship will last very long as long as Papa Joe is in the picture–he is such the meddling in-law of the worst kind, ya know? Yet, Ashlee is a little feisty and she may have more common sense than Jess than to let her father control her love relationship.
EDIT: Pete seems to have more common sense too as it has been confirmed that he, knowing how overbearing Joe is about his daughters, went to Papa Joe first and asked his permission to marry Ashlee. So maybe this marriage will have a better newlywed period than Jessica’s…OH! They should totally do a Newlywed reality show too!
A friend told In Touch magazine:
“He got down on one knee and she said yes. She has an amazing ring, and they are so in love.”
Ashlee released the following statement on friendsorenemies.com saying:
“We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best.
Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us.”
Fall Out Boy (& Ashlee Simpson’s boyfriend), Pete Wentz, revealed recently that he has attempted suicide before. He said there was a time in his life, in the start of his career, where he was full of anxiety and depressed all the time. He felt isolated and tried to kill himself.
Wentz disclosed this very personal information during a video interview for MTV’s college channel MTVU. Joining Wentz in revealing their darkest hours in order to help the Jed Foundation’s Half Of Us campaign, which is aimed at cutting student suicide rates, was Mary J. Blige and Billy Corgan (of the Smashing Pumpkins) . Their goal is to encourage students suffering from mental illness to seek professional help.
During his revealing interview, Wentz said:
“The darkest moment was when we had just finished recording out major label record and two days later we were going to go to Europe and I felt completely lost and out of control. At that point, I’d seen some doctors and they were Hollywood doctors so they gave me a cocktail (of prescription drugs); but, I was kind of the drugstore cowboy, so I took the cocktail the way I wanted to take it. I got in my car. I remember I was listening to Jeff Buckley doing Leonard Cohen’s (song) Hallelujah and sat there and took a bunch of (prescription drug) Adavan in a Best Buy (store) parking lot. And I called up my manager because I was, at that point, completely out of my head with Adavan. And I was talking to him and I was slurring my words, so he called my mom and my mom called me and she came and got me and we went to the hospital. I came home and we realized that we needed to do more than just keep (my) head above water. It’s not really about keeping your head above water, it’s about feeling all right and feeling safe in your own skin. It’s not about keeping your head above water and barely keep going.”
Revealing something so personal takes a lot of courage and strength; plus it’s great that he’s willing to tell his story so that it might prevent it from becoming someone else’s. I hope Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson are doing well and that Papa Joe isn’t too hard on him.
