Emmy Rossum hosted the branch launch of PiNKiTUDE, a brand inspired by MGM’s “Pink Panther” with a percentage of proceeds going towards Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a worldwide breast cancer organization.
Emmy, who starred in movies such as “Phantom of the Opera” and “The Day After Tomorrow” and is a Golden Globe-nominated actress, was motivated to become spokesperson after her Godmother was diagnosed with cancer and “everything changed.” Emmy, who released her first album “Inside Out” last year, also recorded the song “Why oh Why” for the organization. Emmy spoke of her personal family experience, and how PiNKiTUDE is an important organization for getting information about breast cancer out. Her speech was short, sweet, and sincere, and she has said of Pinkitude,
As a young woman whose family has personally been affected by breast cancer, I am grateful for the opportunity to help raise awareness of this disease by sharing my ‘PiNKiTUDE’ with young women everywhere. I hope to inspire women like myself to practice breast self-awareness and to encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle. I am proud to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure and their promise to end breast cancer forever.
The party itself was very relaxed, with people of all ages and style in attendance. Aside from Emmy, stars such as Tamara Mowry and Verne Troyer made an appearance; there were also a few supporting actors such as Rex Lee (Lloyd) from Entourage who came to support the cause. The DJs were Sean Patrick and Spinderella, who both spun a solid set of music.
PiNKiTUDE is consisted of multiple products and brands to target young women and teens to raise awareness of the importance of breast self-examination for catching breast cancer early, while also promoting healthy lifestyles. It’s a mix of top designers and the entertainment industry in an effort to get the word about breast cancer awareness out.
The brand will be available starting August 16th; LA store XIN will become the “PiNKiTUDE Store by XIN” for one month, with a part of the store being dedicated to PiNKiTUDE for one year after, during which time a percentage of the proceeds from the brand will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization.
One of the themes is that “Pinkitude is fashion with compassion and attitude!” Keep an eye out for Pinkitude in stores, and show your support for finding a cure for breast cancer.
