Angelina Jolie has remained fairly low key over the last few months, and now the actress is bravely revealing the reason behind her limited public appearances recently. In a newly released OpEd piece published in The New York Times, the Maleficent star reveals that doctors found she had a faulty gene which increased her risk of breast and ovarian cancer... so she took action.
"Once I knew this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and minimize the risk as much as I could," she writes. "I made a decision to have a preventitive double mastectomy."
After beginning surgery in February, Angelina completed the three month process on April 27 with breast reconstruction.
