    2008 American Idol runner-up David Archuleta posted a personal video on YouTube to all his fans saying goodbye as he entered a new chapter in his life.

    In the video, he thanks all his fans for their support and explains how he will now head out on a Mormon missionary for two years.

    David Archuleta rose to fame on American Idol in 2008, at only 17-years-old, he was one of the youngest contestants in the show's history! Since then, he's had an amazing career -- but the now 20-year-old singer is putting his fast-moving career on hold... for two years!

    Singer David Archuleta is in the market for a new record label.

    The American Idol alum has been dropped by Jive Records. Confirming the news to The Hollywood Reporter, a Jive Records spokesperson said, "David was released from our roster."

    A reason for his release was not given, but many speculate it was because his last album only sold 67,000 copies, which is nothing compared to his self-titled debut album that sold almost a million copies and was certified platinum.
