Well, here’s one way to market a movie...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will unveil his writing and directorial debut, Don Jon, on the world in October. In anticipation of the release of the first official trailer today, Joseph created an all-new Twitter account for the character he plays, Don Jon ― which goes so far as to call him that “p*ssy ass kid from 30 rock.”

Not a whole lot of stars would create a fake Twitter account just to insult themselves to promote a movie. But most stars aren’t Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

We’ve all been through that awkward stage in our lives, and just because celebrities enjoy glamorous lifestyles now doesn’t mean that they’re any different from the rest of us when it comes to growing up. Plenty of stars got their start at a young age and had to grow up right in front of our eyes, blossoming into full-blown celebrities. MTV’s Awkward returns for Season Three tonight, and the protagonist Jenna Hamilton knows a thing or two about everyone being all up in her (very awkward) business. In honor of the season premiere, maybe we can take some tips from these stars as we showcase the metamorphosis from awkward kid to talented superstar.

We were already pretty jealous that we didn’t get an invite to Vanity Fair’s legendary Oscars after-party. After seeing these totally random celebrity encounters, though, that jealously sky-rocketed to an entirely new level.

Photographer to the stars Terry Richardson did get the chance to rub elbows with the likes of Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and he snapped some pictures along the way. After perusing his black-and-white creations we couldn’t help but notice how many random stars posed together. Take a look at a few of our favorites!
