Sometimes big stars go indie and end up getting an Oscar nomination (or win!) out of it. Think Charlize Theron in Monster or Jennifer Lawrence in Winter’s Bone.

And sometimes they go indie and it’s just a big fat mess.

This year’s Tribeca Film Festival wraps up Sunday and the prizes have already been handed out, and even though several films that competed had famous faces attached ― including Julianne Moore, Naomi Watts and Paul Rudd ― it was a more diverse international slate with largely unknown actors that had the audiences swooning. To sum it up, here are some of the films that got the most attention ― both good and bad. (Sorry, Emma Roberts… better luck next time.)

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that having all these big-name stars in one film doesn’t equal another Movie 43, because we all know how well that turned out.

Pretty much anyone who is anyone stars in Seth Rogen-directed film This Is The End. Just to throw out a few names: James Franco, Seth Rogen (duh), Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Rihanna (!!), Emma Watson, Kevin Hart, Mindy Kaling, Paul Rudd… alright, you get the idea. Seeing all these names on the cast list makes us giddy and now the red-band trailer has us hoping that the movie is actually as good as it looks!

Here’s a question — who honestly doesn’t love Paul Rudd? Silly question, right? But after talking with him at Sundance 2013, it’s hard to believe we could fall in love with him even more!

Chelsea Briggs chatted with the silly star at the premiere of his film Prince Avalanche and got the lowdown on how he got involved with the remake. “David Gordon Green. I’m a fan of his, I’ve known him for a long time and I’ve always enjoyed his company. I think he’s really talented and I just really wanted to work with him,” Paul explained with a smile.
