Before they were Oscar nominees, Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway did some work they’re surely less proud of than their Academy Award-winning roles. But now that they’re Oscar winners for the first time, it’s a whole new ballgame and they've got their pick of just about any script in Hollywood.

Meanwhile, Christoph Waltz and Daniel Day-Lewis added another golden statue to their growing collections… so will the Oscars just keep on coming in their upcoming roles?

One of the biggest film festivals of the year is taking over Park City, Utah and everybody who is anybody in the film world will be bundled up and ready to chat movies. I’m talking about the Sundance Film Festival, ya’ll!

While the flicks taking over the festival may have some familiar faces in them, such as Ashton Kutcher, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Daniel Radcliffe, plenty of other famous stars actually got their start at Sundance. From Jennifer Lawrence to Quentin Tarantino, here are eight movie stars who can give thanks to Sundance for their big break!

Quentin Tarantino and violence go together like peanut butter and jelly. In fact, he’s never made a movie that isn’t soaked in blood and mayhem. From the badass assassins in Pulp Fiction to the sword-slinging Bride in Kill Bill, pretty much nobody out-kills Quentin Tarantino.

So it’s no surprise, then, that he doesn’t think there’s any correlation between on-screen bloodshed and the off-screen massacres that have been plaguing our nation for more than a decade with increasing frequency. In the wake of the Newtown shootings, Django Unchained has taken more flack than it usually might for its extreme violence (and some for its revisionist depiction of slavery). In a recent interview with NPR, Quentin had finally had enough.
